THE REPRESENTATIVES OF POLISH STONEMASONS IN SPAIN

The representatives of the Association of the Stone Industry Employers (ZPBK) visited Spain from 2 to 6 May 2010. Tomasz Żółkiewicz, Krzysztof Piaseczny, Roman Mitoraj and Bogusław Solima visited Spanish companies which deal with stone extraction, stone processing and production of machines for stone sector located in Galicia region. Particular visits were prepared by Cluster del Granito from Galicia which helped to organise the whole trip and co-financed the stay of Polish stonemasons (accommodation, meals, travels to companies).

The participants visited Rosa Porrińo and Gris Mondariz mines owned by Granitos Cabaleiro company, and the following companies which deal with stone processing: Granilouro, Granisa, Granitos Cabaleiro, Grupimar and Levantina. Also the producers of machines for stone sector (Digafer and Montajes Rotelu) showed their plants to Polish visitors. They also visited the Piedra 2010 fair in Madrid and Azul Noche mine owned by Marcelino Martinez Group, which is situated about 200 kilometres from the Spanish capital city. During the fair, some meetings with many other stone-related companies were organised, such as Fachadas Del Norte or Industrias Ferri. Cluster del Granito de Galicia was established in March 2010 as a result of merging the Galician Stone Quarries Association ACG, the Galician Granite Association AGG, the Galician Association of Stonework Machinery Producers Galimac, the Association of Marble Producers and the Galician Granite Technological Centre. The involvement of this institution in organising the trip is a result of the fact that it is interested in its cooperation with the Polish Association of the Stone Industry Employers, which was mentioned by the president of the Galician Association of Stonework Machinery Producers Galimac Jose Angel Lorenzo, as well as because of the willingness to promote Spanish stone industry. Also Jose Antonio Fernandez, the managing director of Digafer company, who visited a few leading companies in Poland three weeks earlier, was much involved in the organisation of the trade mission.
