KAMIEŃ 2015 WINNERS

Kamien 2015 7Jury of this year's Kamień 2015 competition granted as many as seven Caryatid statuettes for best stone projects in traditional categories.  

Two main prizes were awarded in “Stone in architecture” category. The winning objects were Royal Wilanów and the building of Embassy and Residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Both buildings are situated in Warsaw. The jury also granted a special prize in this category. The prize went to Labradoryt Zakład Obróbki Kamienia Ludosław Wenerski company for creating a historical map of Łódź. Two main prizes were also awarded in “Sculpture” category: to Tadeusz Biniewicz for “Gostynin Hercules” sculpture and to Piramida sp. z o.o. company for its Buddhist Stupa. The sculpture entitled “The Crown of the Himalayas” got the special prize in this category. In “Tomb” category the main prize went again to Mr Andrzej Weremczuk.

Submitted projects were assessed by the jury led by Adriana Czekaj, the editor-in-chief of Świat Kamienia. Other members of the jury were dr Renata Wysocka, Stanisław Sitarz, prof. Stefan Kukiałka, Józef Maślaniec. The awards – statuettes of Caryatid – were presented at Stone fair in Poznań during Kamień competition gala (19 November) at 1.30 pm in pavilion 8A/Speaker’s Corner. ARCHITECTURE

Kamien 2015 7The main prize went to Royal Wilanów, a building which is situated at Klimaczak street (the corner of Przyczółkowa street) in Warsaw. A strong stone accent can be seen on the facade where fluted texture slabs and polished slabs made of Brenna sandstone were used. The total amount of stone facade is 5,350 square metres. Stone works were carried out by Kamieniarz Tadeusz Modliński company. Contractor: ERBUD SA. Investor: Grupa Capital Park. The project was made by JEMS Architekci company.



Kamien 2015 4The main prize also went to the Embassy and Residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The building is situated in Warsaw at 30 Wiertnicza street. The stone elements we can find there are, for example, the facade decorated with “Broniów” sandstone slabs, panels on the balconies of the residence made of white onyx as well as floors and walls inside the building finished with “Crema Ole” limestone. Przedsiębiorstwo Budowlane i Usług Technicznych GRANIT Sp. z o.o. company was in charge of stone facade works whilst Warbud S.A. company was the general contractor. The project was prepared by XY Studio company.

Kamien 2015 3The jury also awarded a special prize to Labradoryt Zakład Obróbki Kamienia Ludosław Wenerski for creating a historical map of Łódź at 5 Politechniki street. The map was made of 5-cm thick “Nero Zimbabwe” stone and stainless steel. The project was made by Agnieszka Staszczyszyn (Group-Arch). Investor: Fabryka Biznesu Sp. z o.o.





SCULPTURE


kamien 2015 5The awarded “Herkules Gostyniński” made by Tadeusz Biniewicz is situated in Osiny near Gostynin. The monument was designed by Tadeusz Biniewicz and Marcin Majchrzak. 10 tonnes of granite were used to make this sculpture.  






Kamien 2015 1The second main prize in this category was given to Piramida sp. z o. o. for its Buddhist Stupa which is situated in Bulgaria. In order to make it the company used as much as 94 tonnes of Strzegom granite elements! Wojciech Kossowski was in charge of the project. Investor: the Association of Buddhists.





Kamien 2015 6The special prize will go to MURKAM Usługi Kamieniarsko-Budowlane Leon Czerwiński company for the sculpture entitled “The Crown of the Himalayas” which is situated in Władysławowo. The sculpture consists of fourteen blocks of Swedish “Waza Stein” quartz, which symbolises 14 peaks of Karakorum and the Himalayas. The blocks are from 2.5 to almost 5 metres high. The project was designed by Prof. Sławoj Ostrowski, Marzena and Jacek Bruzdowicz. Investor: Aleja Gwiazd Sportu (Walk of Sport Stars).


TOMB

Kamien 2015 2The tomb of the late Romana Chudzik got the main prize in this category. This tomb was designed and made at Pracownia Rzeźbiarska Andrzeja Weremczuka. The tomb is situated in the cemetery in Łódź at Smutna street. It is an example of a modern chapel which relates to the tradition of family tombs in Łódź. Bardigilio marble, black antiqued Belfast as well as rocks made of Swedish granite together with stained glass were used to make this tomb.
