The stone fair in Horice near Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, was held on 13 June. This year the fair was accompanied by the celebration of 130th anniversary of founding a stone and sculpture high school in Horice.
This event was so important for us that it became a chance for the cooperation of branch organisations from Poland and Czech Republic. Poland was represented by Stanisław Sitarz – the president of the Association of Stone Industry Employers, Marzena Kantor, Krzysztof Piaseczny and Tomasz Żółkiewicz. The Czech Republic was represented by Jiri Kramarovi, Karel Dusek and Josef Moravec. Polish representatives proposed doing a common cross-border project, which would include, among others, organising a thematic conference, publishing publicity materials and creating a tourist and educational trail based on stone-related themes. The preparation of the project is planned for the next year if there are EU funds for such projects. Then it will be possible to sign the cooperation agreement. If the plans concerning this Polish-Czech cooperation are fulfilled, our stone industry will gain another partner. The first one is the Association of Stoneworkers and Sculptors of Saxony with which the official cooperation started in November 2013.
