The 6th Biennial of Granite Sculpture (formerly known as the International Symposium of Granite Sculpture) will start on 13 July. This event is under auspices of Centrum Rzeźby Polskiej (the Polish Sculpture Centre) in Orońsk and Professor Jerzy Fober is its artistic commissioner. Strzegom will host sculptors who are going to create unique works of art carved in stone material. The open-air will be accompanied by a two-day long seminar, which will cover such topics as “Shaping public space by means of sculpture” and “Granite as a raw material for art and architecture”. The organisers prepared perfect work conditions for their artists. As the participants of the previous edition stress, currently it is hard to find events in Poland which allow for free artistic expression. Therefore, symposiums and open-airs in other European countries cannot compete with the open-air in Strzegom. As always, the works of art which are going to be made during the event will be placed on the market square in Strzegom. In October stone monuments will be transported to Wrocław and presented at the open-air exhibition.
