The Humbled by Fritz Klimsch |
Slupsk authorities decided to move the sculpture by Fritz Klimsch entitled Upokorzony (The Humbled) from Pierwsi Slupszczanie Square to the Podkowa shopping centre. Due to the fact that the sculpture is in a very bad condition it must be transported with a maximum care in order not to damage it, says the mayor's spokesman. Before the transport the sculpture is going to be unfixed from the socle. The highly-qualified stone mason will do it. The sculpture is a well-known symbol of the town. Some call the humbled man the statue of an endorser since he is naked, barefooted and his bottom is directed towards the bank, say the older residents of the town.
The sculpture has been standing there since 1970s. Earlier, from 1918 (the year of its creation) it was standing next to the funerary monument of baron von Gamp.
