The 32nd Carrara Marmotec fair (21-24 May) was visited by 223 companies and only 5,730 specialists. It is no surprise then that the comments which summarised this Italian event mentioned low attendance and treated it as a cause for reflection over the condition of the event in Carrara.
The organisers' efforts, however, are worth mentioning. The event was accompanied by numerous seminars devoted to stone branch and the use of waste which is produced during processing of natural stone. There were lectures on safety in quarries and the lecture entitled “Stone sector” which concentrated on the condition of Indian construction branch. During the fair Marble Architectural Awards – MAA 2014 – were also presented. The fair was an important event for business, research and design branches. The Innovation Corner, for example, which promotes novelties in the field of extracting and processing of stone, attracted a lot of people. The fair in Carrara was visited by the representatives of stone industry from France, Iran, Germany, Egypt, China, Greece, Portugal, Belgium, Vietnam, India and Pakistan. In total, 200 official delegations came to Italy. Among them there was a group from the Chinese province Yunfu and representatives from the Indian state Gudźarat. Those who visited this Italian event had an opportunity to see marble extracted in local quarries, travertine as well as African and Brazilian granites.
