In mid September the extraction in 175 mines which belong to the Indian tycoon – PRP Granite – was suspended. The suspicion concerning financial malpractice is the cause of questioning the managing staff of the largest granite mines in India.
They are charged with, among others, illegal extraction of stone, stealing governmental property, irregularities concerning buying plots for extraction purposes. Local authorities are said to be implicated in forced buying of plots from Maduraj inhabitants. As many as 18 police teams have been created in order to collect the evidentiary material. This event made waves among the importers of stone (for example Kashmir Gold, Madury, Ivory Fantasy, Multicolor Red). Some commentators are warning against rising prices of granites from India. One of the leading suppliers in Poland is, however, of the opposite opinion.
-Our strategy includes keeping the largest reserves of popular stones. In this and next season we can supply Indian stones without any problems keeping deadlines and keeping prices at the same level – ensures Wojciech Rogala – the sales director of ROGALA company.
