The Turkish library is the only place of its kind in the world. Each piece of stone located there comes from a different part of Turkey. Situated in Antalya, Taş Kütüphanesi, that is the Stone Library, showcases more than 1,000 varied pieces of stone from deposits across Turkey.
Granites, marbles, onyxes, travertine and even volcanic rocks – all the exhibits (dimensions: 30 x 30 cm and 60 x 60 cm) have been catalogued and numbered. Thanks to a big and precise database you can find all the necessary information, for example about geological origin, properties or extraction sites.
Antalya, situated in the south-west part of Turkey, is full of old buildings raised with the use of natural stone. This city is also a famous stone centre. The Turkish Stone fair is held there, at Antalya Expo Center. This international stone and stone products fair is one of the two most important events in the region. This fact contributed to creating this unique library. It attracts architects, stonemasons, investors and representatives of building companies. The library workers also noticed the fact that at least two Chinese companies visit the library each day. The founders of this library hope that this place will be more and more popular and, consequently, will promote Turkish natural stones in the whole world. The library is a great place for all who find qualities of natural stone important.
