The local authorities got financial support (10.5 million zlotys – about 2.6 million euros) for refurbishing the building and establishing Pasaż Kultury Województwa Łódzkiego (A Cultural Passage of Łódź Province) in it.
The funding will allow for restoring the elevation made of light sandstone, for repairing the roof and waterproofing foundations. Basements will be also adapted. This space will allow 23 counties from Łódź province to promote their cultural activities. The modernist building of the Cultural Centre in Łódź was designed by Wiesław Lisowski and raised in 1935-1939. First, it was a house-monument of Józef Piłsudski, the first marshall of Poland. The statue that commemmorates the patron can be found at the entrance to the building from the east side. In 1980s new elements were added to the building. These were the north and west wings whilst the south wing was extended. The brick facade was covered with sandstone slabs.
