At the coming fair we will have an opportunity to see works which show the activity of people involved in the protection of listed buildings, cultural heritage and natural environment.
An Informal Group of Stonemasons “Magurycz”, and, currently, “Magurycz” Association, was established in 1986. Everyone who wants to get involved in documenting and restoring cemeteries, sepulchral art, roadside crosses and shrines and all the other examples of Orthodox art which are neglected, may join the association and become its member.
The mission of the association is to protect listed buildings, cultural heritage and natural environment paying particular attention to South-East Poland and the Carpathians. During 27 years of its existence, around 1,000 people devoted their time to renovate many listed buildings in Poland, Ukraine and Bosnia which were neglected and fell into oblivion. The members of the association helped to save almost 120 cemeteries, over 2,000 tombstones, crosses, chapels and roadside shrines.
