The stone which is going to be used to build the monument at Pilsudski Square has been delivered to the stone company in Ostroleka. The stone comes from Marcelino Martinez company, a Spanish granite producer. This company owns around 60 quarries in Cadalso de los Vidros. In Cadalso we can find the only deposit of Bianco Cristal stone. This stone is going to be used to build the cross. It is the lightest granite that can be mined in Europe. Gris Cadalso stone, a one tone darker stone, is going to be used to make a floor. Apart from the designer, the representatives of the customer - SZRM, and of the contractor - Mostostal Warszawa came to see the imported stone.

Mr. Cezary Grabarczyk, the Minister of Infrastructure, visited Strzegom on 25 March 2009. - I really wanted to come to Strzegom because this region is a granite center of Lower Silesia. One of the advantages of Lower Silesia is the fact that you have the largest railway network in Poland. These factors will have a great influence upon making decision in order to solve the problem of transporting aggregates out of workings - says Cezary Grabarczyk asked about the purpose of his visit.

Warminska Archidiocese and Warminska Cathedral Chapter in Frombork put a project of the tomb of Nicholas Copernicus out to tender. It will be raised in the place of the re-interment of the astronomer in the cathedral in Frombork. The project should include the outer part of the tomb, that is a sarcophagus, space-and-sculpture forms, an epitaph, a tomb slab, etc. The place of re-interment will be situated by the St. Cross side altar in the southern aisle.

Another meeting of Sztuka Konserwacji (The Art of Restoration) took place in April in Warsaw. It was the 13th edition of this event. The meeting was a chance to Polish restoration specialists to exchange their experiences. The first meeting took place on 1 April. Those who deal with stone were waiting for the 2nd day of the Art of Restoration 2009. The day started with the presentation given by Piotr Madrach - the organiser of the meeting - on the Monumentale cemetery in Milan.
